Counselling Approach to Eating Disorders, Trauma & Emotional Healing

How We Work Together

Through warmth, compassion and collaboration, we offer a respectful and confidential space where you can begin to explore what's been difficult.

Our approach is about getting to the root issues. We work together to understand your experiences, including emotional pain, trauma that may be present, and the patterns that may have developed over time. At first, as your story unfolds, many people begin to experience greater clarity, self-compassion and deeper sense of being seen and understood.

Understanding Your Experience

You may be someone who has been hurt in some way through relationship or earlier life experiences where you didn't feel fully supported, seen or safe. Or you may not be able to articulate what is wrong.

Trauma and wounding don't always come from one major event. Often, they develop through ongoing experiences where your emotional needs were not fully met.

This can show up as:

- Struggles with an eating disorder

- Anxiety or emotional overwhelm

- Body Image concerns

- People-pleasing or difficulty with boundaries

- A strong inner critic

- Feeling disconnected from yourself or others

These patterns are not flaws, they are often ways you've learned to manage difficulty.

How We Work Together:

Healing can involve both learning new skills and gently processing what's underneath, to heal at the root.

In our work together, we may focus on:

- Building emotional awareness and regulation

- Developing self-compassion

- Understanding and healing from trauma/wounds

- Exploring relationship and attachment patterns

- Strengthening your sense of self

- Finding healthier ways to cope

What Sessions Feel Like:

Sessions with us are warm, supportive, and with dashes of straightforward conversation that help bring clarity and inform choice. You won't be rushed, but time will be given to allow what has felt unmanageable to become more manageable. We move at a pace that feels right for you and the situation.

Taking the First Step

Reaching out can feel challenging and also it can feel hopeful.  We invite you to book a complimentary consultation or a full session. It would be a pleasure to meet with you.
